Egara Cane

What is it?

The Egara Cane is an electronic help system for blind or visually impaired people that allows them to detect aerial obstacles that pose a danger to their physical integrity.

The Egara Cane is an improvement on the handle of a white cane. The novelty that it has is that it can detect aerial obstacles that, through the usual tracking system, would not be located. This process is possible thanks to three sensors located in the lower part of the handle that can detect obstacles that are halfway between the hip and the head, these being a danger for the user. When these sensors detect an obstacle, the user of the cane will receive a signal on the wrist strap that is connected to the handle. The Egara Cane only warns of those obstacles that are really susceptible to collide with the user, discriminating those that do not interfere in their way or are already detected by tracking. In this way, it avoids repetitive warnings and continuous attention.

The life span of the Egara Cane is around 5 years. Well it is designed to be able to change the lower segments, keeping the original handle. The Egara Cane is designed to be used identically to the traditional cane, so learning is minimal. It has three easily selectable operating modes that allow to adapt the functionality of the cane at any time. These three modes are designed depending on the number of obstacles: walk mode, daily mode and crowded mode. In each mode the distance to which it detects the obstacles varies, thus increasing the response time before the impact. The Egara Cane is available in a wide range of colors that can be combined with the bracelets, thus giving the Cane its own personality.
